Special Screening «Warrior Women»

The special screening of «Warrior Women» on the 20th of Oktober at 11 o'clock is presented by NONAM.

The portrait of a great Warrior Woman, Madonna Thunder Hawk (born in 1940), through her many struggles for the rights of Amerindian people since the 1960s: from Height Ashbury to San Francisco, the occupation of Alcatraz Island, to the violent conflict against the Dakota Access Pipe Line... But also, the powerful transmission of her involvement to her daughter, Marcy.

«Warrior Women» not only shows a perspective of history through women's eyes, but also examines the political impact that these struggles have had on their children, who have been the first witnesses.

Through a style of circular narrative specific to Native Americans oral storytelling, «Warrior Women» navigates between political activism and the fact of being a mother - and shows us how militant tools are transmitted from generation to generation in a particularly aggressive context, where the colonizing government meets Native American resistance.
