The history of mankind in two journeys through time: “Where we come from” takes you back 3.5 billion years ago, past fossils and the prehistory of mankind until the early cultures. “Who we are” shows you the unfolding of modern human being from conception to death. Anatomical specimen illustrate human life and its development.
In the “Discovery Trail”, hands-on stations allow you to actively engage with evolution, prehistory and the human body. In “How we learn”, you discover research results from neurology, psychology and education, explained by means of anatomical brain specimen, tests and games.
Annually changing exhibitions give you in-depth insights into natural science and cultural history. Both exhibitions are in English and German.
In addition to the exhibitions, the museum offers a variety of events such as public guided tours, workshops, courses, lectures, etc.
The museum will be temporarily closed for refurbishment work from 13 July to 3 August 2026. We look forward to welcoming you back on Tuesday 4 August 2026
The exhibition «How we learn» has limited wheelchair access. All other rooms are wheelchair accessible.
