The Schauspielhaus Zürich is the largest spoken theatre in Switzerland and one of the most renowned theatres in the German-speaking world. Seven international in-house directors create the artistic programme with an ensemble of actors, performers and dancers. Under the directorship of Benjamin von Blomberg and Nicolas Stemann, the theatre has been pursuing an interdisciplinary, transdisciplinary and integrative approach since the 2019/20 season. In the two venues Pfauen and Schiffbau, around 20 new productions are on the programme every year. Thanks to surtitles, all performances are also accessible to English-speaking visitors.
