MARIA LASSNIG – 4 SHORT FILMS & YOU OR ME

Maria Lassnig not only drew and painted, but also produced short animated films. Four films will be screened to accompany three sections of the exhibition: SELFPORTRAIT, SHAPES, COUPLES and KANTATE.

This will be followed by a screening of the documentary film MARIA LASSNIG – YOU OR ME by Jacqueline Kaess-Farquet. The filmmaker has been following the artist with her camera since 1996. She chronicles Maria Lassnig’s life journey from her childhood in Carinthia, through her time in New York, to her later years in Austria, during which she achieved fame and recognition. The film features interviews with companions and friends, such as the visual artist Arnulf Rainer, as well as curators and journalists, who shed new light on Maria Lassnig’s work.
