WOMEN (SPACES)
Workshop on women’s perspectives on housing
How do women experience living in housing estates that were predominantly planned by men? And why is it important to address women’s housing needs and housing histories?
This workshop invites participants to reflect collectively on their own living situations. Using methods such as resident surveys and an analysis of their own housing histories, participants will explore specific questions: What makes a flat a good place to live? What works well in the floor plan, and where is there a lack of space or suitable fittings? And have women’s everyday needs even been taken into account in the planning?
The workshop is based on the book project ‘Women Living in Neubühl – Living in an Icon’, which is being written by Sandra König, Henriette Lutz and Ulrike Schröer. The book is based on interviews conducted by students from the Bern University of Applied Sciences with residents of the Swiss Werkbund estate Neubühl.
This event is part of the annual focus RAUM and the supporting programme of Open House Zürich.
