Flying Gardens

by Tim Zulauf/KMUProduktione

Biologists Aylin and Per are researching the use of microbes in vegetable beds: how could plastic pollution be removed from local biogas compost? What exactly happens when microbes migrate from soil life via plants, fungi and animals into the human gut microbiome – and back again? Experiments involving the body’s own bacterial microbiomes are underway. However, things start to move faster when new colleague Renée joins the team …

The evening’s performance takes us from the origins of life to dazzling visions: new ecologies blossom from vocal bodies, compost, and image and sound technologies …

Once again, Yves Netzhammer and Nikki Buzzi are collaborating with KMUProduktionen for ‘Fliegende Gärten’. The artists’ visual and sound worlds were last interwoven in 2022/23 with Tim Zulauf’s texts and the spaces of the Swiss stock exchange SIX. The team is now continuing this collaboration with a focus on nutrition and ecology – this time as an open-air performance taking place at the Grünhölzli gardening collective.

Please bring your fully charged smartphone to the performance! Sturdy shoes and a jacket are recommended.

How to get there: Take bus routes 45, 67 or 78 towards “Dunkelhölzli” to the “Salzweg” stop, then a 3-minute walk.
Address: Grünhölzli Garden Collective, Salzweg 50, 8048 Altstetten

Performances will only take place in good weather.
