A sound tour of the Toni-Areal
Sound artist Andres Bosshard leads a sound walk that brings the city to life through sound and allows hidden noises to be consciously experienced.
A walk through the Toni-Areal with open ears.
“Let’s see the world with our ears! Sound artist Andres Bosshard unleashes a sound walk through and through the Toni, up and out onto the site as a roof.” “Active urban* sound* gardening*” is what* he calls* this approach, which* encourages us to listen closely: We* understand* as we walk*, stop* and* ask: “Tell* me, can* you hear* how your* ears* are doing?” How* do we* stand* there, without* understanding*,* listening* to* what* we* understand* as* we* walk*?* We* stop* and* ask: “Look at the countryside, madam!”* and* all* around* us* there* is* only* wall* and* glass,* concrete* and* steel!** Where is the sound supposed to be now? The drum that lives in the Powder Tower and nobody hears the thunder in the rafters. The gate* stands* open*!* We* sound designers, as auditory gardeners in passing* with* Andres* Bos*shard, * snatch up * fleeting echoes* and* weave* them into our* walking*. Let’s walk a short distance right up close to the old wall, and there we’ll hear: * we walk and stand in our sound of the city!*»
