‘Everything’s Fine Here’ by Zarina Tadjibaeva
Zurich, 2026. A woman on the phone: ‘Can you hear me? How are you? Have you received my letter?’ And again and again: ‘Everything’s fine here.’ In her new play, Zarina Tadjibaeva explores the question of how closeness can be maintained across several thousand kilometres. What do communication, empathy and care look like when people live in different places?
Drawing on her own migration story – from Tajikistan via Germany to Switzerland – Zarina Tadjibaeva recounts, in a personal yet humorously detached manner, the collapse of the Soviet Union, the civil war, the experience of political and economic transition, as well as migration, loneliness and a sense of connection. Through her narrative, individual experience gives rise to a collective one that remains relevant, time and again, in the year 2026.
