France
France have been playing since 2004 or 2005 – depending on who you ask. The concept is incredibly simple:
a single song, played from start to finish, on drums, bass and hurdy-gurdy. Many swear it’s been the same ever since their debut; the band, however, insists that each one is fundamentally different. Some call it noise, drone or psychedelic; others simply call it stoner – and recently there’s even been a rumour going round that they play French folk music. Nonsense. Unless, of course, by that you mean the time-honoured tradition of banging a stick against a hollow tree trunk whilst humming mantras or some rubbish like that. So, to set the record straight once and for all – and for the very first time in the entire history of humankind, exclusively in Zurich – they play: Electric Freak Fusion.
