‘Walwerdung’ by Iris Keller
As a new human being grows within her womb, a woman herself transforms into a whale. In her monologue, Iris Keller explores pregnancy and childbirth as a body-shattering journey into her own inner self and into the depths of endangered oceans. Amidst whale songs, the pain of childbirth and the whirring of the breast pump, *Walwerdung* explores bodily transformation, vulnerability and feminist rage – and asks how parenthood can be conceived today, in a world out of balance.
‘Walwerdung’ is the musical theatre adaptation of the novel of the same name by Iris Keller.
