Any Given Monday

What you can do on Mondays to forget it's Monday.

1. sit first in the lunch cinema

Sleep until just before noon, splash some water on your face, buy a bag of popcorn and sit down at the lunch cinema (every day at 12:15 at Le Paris cinema). The program sits, since always. Until the day after tomorrow, the comedy "6 DÍAS EN BARCELONA" will teach you more about the people in Catalonia's capital than Vicky and Cristina. You can then process what you've experienced with a walk by the lake or in Rieterpark. And afterwards it's best to go to the cinema again - at the Monday standard price of 14 CHF.

2. educate yourself further

Attend an adult education course such as "Lateinamerika zwischen Aufbruch und Abgründen" (Latin America between upheaval and abysses) (7:30 p.m., main building, University of Zurich) and learn more about the background of the fluctuations between democratic upheaval and authoritarian abysses in Central and South America. Without any pressure of grades.

3. experience Zurich paddling new

Rent a kayak from former Swiss professional polo player Neklan Unger down at Schanzengraben near the stock exchange and paddle to Saffa Island and back. You'll fall in love with Zurich all over again. The tricky part: getting in and out.

4. sauna on the lake

Stab with the sauna boat and five friends in lake. Of course, including bath in Lake Zurich.

5. enjoy a fine wine

Reserve a table in the Kronenhalle, order a Pinot Noir from Erich Meier in Erlenbach and feel at least as important as the art on the wall or the former Nati coach at the next table. It's clear: this trick can only be used by the fewest of us on a weekly basis.

6. always again on the "Huusberg"

Run regularly up the Uetliberg and always take a new path. You'll be amazed at how many there are and where they suddenly lead you.

7. let yourself be guided

Join a guided tour, for example through Zürich's underground (16.05., 6 p.m., Central) and find out what secrets this city hides.

8. take a long-distance trip in your head

Eat a fruity açaí at Juicery 21 (Sihlstrasse 93, official language English) or Tapiocaria (Kasernenstrasse 15, official language Portuguese) and then let Oliver "Reezm" Fitze and Michael "Kejeblos" Büchel at Hum Records (Ankerstrasse 11), for example, give you the music for your mental long-distance trip. We all need more Marcos Valle in our lives.

9. take the boat to Rappi

Get on a Züriseeschiff at 9:20 a.m. and let yourself be ferried to Rapperswil in two hours. Once there, it's time for soup at the most relaxing place on the whole lake: Café Hintergass. Any Given Day except Monday and Tuesday, we recommend a piece of cake afterwards at Bistro Inä, just ten minutes away.
