Documentary and discussion on Coming Out Day 2023

To be queer and a believer is often perceived as a contradiction. The documentary "Queer Faith" by Madeleine Corbat shows that this does not have to be the case. In it, she accompanies the aspiring priest Stefanie Arnold and other people from the LGBTQ+ community who are fighting for their place in the church. On the occasion of this year's Coming Out Day, the documentary will be shown at the Paulus Academy. It will be followed by a discussion with Corbat and queer activist Mentari Baumann, among others.

Swiss cinema premiere with exceptional director and acting luminary

After "The Souvenir" and "The Souvenir II", the collaboration between Johanna Hogg and Tilda Swinton has produced another film work with autobiographical references: In "The Eternal Daughter", a daughter and her mother confront long-hidden secrets. The acting chameleon Swinton takes on the role of both the daughter and the mother. For the Swiss cinema premiere at the Filmpodium, the exceptional director and the acting luminary travel to Zurich especially for the occasion and are available for a Q&A.

The name Giacometti is synonymous with impressionist landscape paintings, filigree sculptures or even sophisticated buildings. From the father Giovanni to the children Alberto, Diego, Ottilia and Bruno, all were blessed with remarkable artistic talent. With the help of paintings, sketches, letters and contemporary witnesses, Susanna Fanzun gets to the bottom of this extraordinary family of artists in her documentary film "I Giacometti". The preview of this cross-generational portrait of the artist will take place at the Riffraff in the presence of the director.

"Halloween" on Halloween

With "Halloween", John Carpenter paved the way for a whole wave of American slasher films. The low-budget horror film from 1978 about an immortal serial killer who makes his hometown unsafe on Halloween has long since achieved cult status. Zurich will also receive a visit from Michael Myers at the end of the month. Because the Xenix is showing the first and third parts of the horror film series "Halloween" in a double bill on 31 October.
