Up to date, cultural, political, prosaic, international, animated and animating: Switzerland’s biggest house of literature – in terms of events per year – offers a diverse program and attracts a likewise diverse audience. Also people who do not read are welcomed here! Over the year, the Literaturhaus Zurich hosts over 100 readings, book launches, open and panel discussions, performances, symposiums and workshops.
Invited to stage are internationally renowned authors, as well as writers who are thus far only known amongst small circles of literature lovers. In addition to readings, the Literaturhaus Zurich welcomes you to discussions about writing and philosophical debates, to two literature festivals – one in February and one in July – and to the well-known event series «Ces Voisins inconnus – Cari vicini», in which Swiss literatures from the French-, Italian- and German-speaking part enjoy a fruitful exchange. To promote young talents the Literaturhaus Zurich holds a writing competition. In addition, each half year the Literaturhaus together with the PWG foundation invites a writer in residence to Zurich.
