Yael Inokai – The Oyster
A novel as gripping as it is sensitive unfolds amidst cleaning buckets and oysters.
Yael Inokai’s fourth novel is set in a luxury department store in the city. In *Die Auster* (Hanser 2026), the multi-award-winning Basel-based author unravels a gripping crime case centred on the cleaning lady of the murdered man. She must grapple with the consequences of the death, which extend all the way to the department store’s oyster bar. With skill and her delicate, poetic language, Inokai opens up a microcosm between rich and poor, telling the stories of a wide variety of human destinies.
