Dance tips for September

To mark its tenth anniversary, Winterthur Culture Night is offering a varied programme of events. To celebrate this milestone, what used to be a single night has become a whole weekend packed with culture. For the first time, public spaces will become stages: the Zurich Ballet and the Young Zurich Ballet will be performing dance under the open sky. Make the most of the last summer evenings.

As part of Nina Mambourg’s exhibition, the dancer and choreographer Eugénie Rebetez presents a solo performance that blends elements of ritual, concert and cabaret. She combines song and movement, switching between Swiss German, French and English, and between anger and gentleness, humour and vulnerability. The artist performs scenes from previous shows as well as new material. The blend of dance and concert makes for a particularly engaging evening.

In *Rhythm of Reverence*, rhythm does more than simply set the beat; it brings people together. Dance is understood as a practice of connection, mindfulness and transformation. The performance brings together dancers from different generations and with diverse cultural and dance backgrounds. Through movement, a sense of commonality emerges – the individual meets the collective. Immerse yourself in the immersive landscape of this performance.

What if the history of dance can be found not only in archives, but also in the bodies of those who have experienced and shaped it? In *KörperArchiv(e) in Resonanz*, the collective *dance me to the end* (eight dance practitioners aged over 60) explores the connection between their own bodily memories and the history of the Gessnerallee. Lived knowledge, spatial memories and documentary traces come together. The project addresses questions of ageing, fragility and the nature of the knowledge stored within the body.
