Photography exhibition
With the help of the Ivan Honchar Museum of National Folk Culture, British photographer Michael Garrett has spent three months travelling all over Ukraine. With his adorable dog, Bobbie, he has met with and photographed people who are at the forefront of a cultural revival. This collection of portraits offers a window into the lives and 1experiences of a diverse group of Ukrainian people who all have one thing in common: A passion for tradition and freedom of expression. As the stories that accompany the photos attest, Ukrainian history has been tumultuous, but the Ukrainian people are resilient. Through the remarkable openness of the subjects in this exhibition, one will be able to access a part of that dynamic energy, and see the country through a different lens.
Michael Garrett grew up in the UK and presently resides in the South of France. He has always had a passion for experiencing different cultures of the world, and celebrates his own heritage with a keen interest in folk music. His background is in video production but more recently he has discovered a love of portrait photography.
